The Mexican actor, director, and producer Diego Luna was brought to this world by parents who were involved in the industry in one way or another. Maybe due to their influence, he got the exposure he needed to make his way as the leading actor of today.
Working in the industry since 1987, Luna is known chiefly for his role as Cassian Andor in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, as well as the character’s show on Disney+, Andor.

Diego Luna was born and raised in Mexico to Mexican parents
Diego was born in the beautiful city of Mexico named Toluca, to Fiona Alexander and Alejandro Luna. Unfortunately, he couldn’t get much maternal love as his mother passed away due to a car accident when he was just two years of age.
Since then, his father has raised him as a single father with two kids. Before her passing, Diego’s mother was a British costume designer.

His father, Alejandro, was a set designer who mainly designed sets for theaters, film, and opera.
His father belonged of Mexican descent, whereas his mother was British with Scottish and English descent, and it seems Diego attracted all the good genes from every descent.
Diego Luna grew up with a sibling and a sibling-like friend
Luna was not the only child in the family; he had an older sister whose name hadn’t been mentioned in public.
However, she was not the only person he grew up with, as he found his best friend in infancy.
He has been friends with Gael Garcia Bernal since they were young, as their mothers were friends. They have a great relationship and often co-star together in various projects.

Luna was just seven when he entered the world of movies and tv series. He started appearing in minor roles in Mexican productions like ‘El Abuelo Y Yo’ and ‘Angeles sin Paraiso.’
He had already bagged regular main roles in several tv series as a teenager. Slowly building his portfolio, he went on to become one of the most popular actors in the world.
His role in the Star Wars franchise opened his doors to the industry outside Mexico. He has been playing the role of Andor in the series of the same name since 2022.
